Multiple initiatives to innovate
Innovation with Titan
Innovation is part of every employee’s DNA at Titan. We define innovation as novel or pioneering processes, products or business models that deliver elevating experiences for the people we touch or create significant impact and value.
Titan Company began its operations in 1987 with quartz watches, an innovative offering that changed the face of the Indian watch industry. Titan Edge, the world's slimmest watch achieved by Titan in less than five years of our existence, exemplifies best the spirit of innovation in the organization. The Jewellery Division initiated in 1994, has its own hallmark innovation in the form of Karatmeter, an industry first that that offers an avenue to the customers for checking the purity of their gold through a non-destructive test. Our contemporary store designs are a great example of innovation. They have redefined the retailing standards in India before the advent of modern retailing.
Innovation Centre is a groundbreaking space designed as a home for creativity, exchange of ideas and unhindered experimentation. It houses an Exploration Laboratory, Reference library and Study Area in the Xerxes Desai Hall of Creativity, and the aptly named Bhaskar Bhat Hall of Tranquility providing a suitable environment for innovators to meditate, introspect, listening to lectures on innovation or practice yoga.
Innovation has since taken off in a huge way across the organization with the establishment of Innovation teams in all Divisions, as well as a central Research & Innovation Team, who conduct various initiatives under the brand of Titan Innovation Engine (TIE).
Every innovation stems from our business strategies. We engage with business leaders to understand their priority areas and where the businesses are heading, which helps us identify their:
- Wicked challenges- pressing issues that the business has been dealing with.
- Opportunity spaces- emerging areas in technology, retail, and other spaces related to the businesses.
Some of the key initiatives being driven by the central Research & Innovation team are given below:-
