THE XV COLLECTION Celebrating 15 glorious years of creative excellence in the Indian fashion industry, Pankaj and Nidhi, winners of several awards globally, unveiled their quaintly titled “XV” line, which drew its inspirations from the dashing Spanish toreros’ costumes. Each piece of the “XV” collection – a limited edition offering – was inspired by the ceremonial Spanish ‘traje de luces’ attire of the colourful bull fighters.It was a grand Olé to the latest line that stayed firmly on the black and ivory path with muted accents of gold. The filtered, monochromatic visuals were embellished with intricate adornments that were texturally rich in craft. The inlaid appliqués were exquisite, while the tricky lattice work added a touch of mystery. The intricate quilting, pixelated flowers and the pearlesque cord work, further added to the drama of the ensembles that took the concept of surface ornamentation to a higher level.The key design elements were classic, tailored jackets teamed with 3-buttoned, collar, white dress shirts, while impressive extended shoulders and dramatic, sparkling, giant lapels kept the inspiration in firm focus. Adding a feminine element to the creations were long, tantalising fringes that accentuated the designs. There was an unconventional addition of tuxedo yokes and embellished harnesses, which incorporated a flamboyant flavour to the very formal wear look. The use of wool, silk taffeta and double knits brought the apparel to life with a distinct touch of vintage masculinity.Dia Mirza, the effervescent beauty, who is not only a woman of substance but one who exudes confidence and grace, was the ideal choice as showstopper for the Raga by Titan “Power Pearls Collection” as she glided down the runway in a stunning creation by designers Pankaj and Nidhi.Speaking on the occasion, Kalpana Rangamani, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Titan Watches, “We’re absolutely ecstatic about our debut at Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI.
